Hello! I’m Ruth Lewis Robertson, founder of New You.

I have always been passionate about helping others. Prior to gaining my diploma in Nutritional Therapy I spent 12 years working in social care, supporting people to live independent full lives; an experience that has taught me a great deal which I have brought into my work as Nutritional Therapist.

My interest in nutrition grew after I became vegan a few years ago. Although I became vegan for ethical, not health, reasons, I became fascinated by the positive side-effects of eating a plant-based, predominantly whole-foods diet. I felt lighter, healthier and, most of all, unexpectedly happier! This led me to enrol on CNM’s Nutritional Therapy course: an intense, three-year diploma through which I learnt in depth about the power of food and its ability to support the body to heal itself. I left my job in social care to focus my energy on this fascinating field of study.

It feels natural to me to specialise in vegan nutrition but this is by no means exclusive: if you come to me for a personal Nutrition Plan it will be based on your values, goals and circumstances, not mine. None of us are perfect (I too find it hard to say no to a glass of wine or slice of cake); I will work with you to create a plan that feels achievable to you. This is more sustainable than aiming for perfection.

My role as a Nutritional Therapist keeps me busy: between seeing clients, doing talks and writing blogs, I also act as assistant supervisor for CNM student clinics, as well as keeping up-to-date with the latest nutrition research.

Outside of nutrition I spend my time helping my husband with his own busy architectural business and I also love vegan cooking, pottering in the gardening, yoga and travel.
